Join us on Sunday, October 3 at Strutt With Your Mutt! We are Kansas City's largest dog-friendly and dog-centered walk/run event. Your participation will provide comprehensive care to more than 6,200 homeless animals that come to Wayside Waifs this year.
From life-saving medical care, behavior training, safe shelter, nutritious food and love, Wayside has been committed to helping abandoned, abused, and homeless pets get a second chance at life. You make that possible!

Honorary Grand Marshall
Carol Price has a deep love for animals and for Wayside Waifs. Her home and heart has welcomed many dogs through the years. Her love for and commitment to Wayside Waifs and helping shelter animals has been passed along to her granddaughter, Emma, who is one of this year's Junior Event Co-Chairs.
"Wayside has been in existence as long as I have. Shortly before I joined the Wayside Board I had the opportunity to visit the shelter for a fundraiser. To my surprise and shock, it was the same building it was when I was a child. They desperately needed a new facility. Although fundraising had just begun, I knew it would be a difficult job. The shelter was so overcrowded and in disrepair. The animals became an important mission for me. I knew I needed to join the team. Hard work and diligence prevailed and the new facility went from a dream to a reality. My soul mate Newman was adopted at the first fundraiser. A miniature poodle, very sick and beyond thin, he became a part of my reason for joining the Wayside Waifs cause. Although Newman passed away 12 years ago, he never let me stray from my heart ... I needed the shelter as much as they needed me."
Junior Event Co-Chairs
In 2014, first graders Abby and Emma decided they wanted to make a difference in the lives of homeless animals in our community. They made their wish come true by hosting a lemonade stand on behalf of Wayside Waifs, raising over $2,000! From hosting lemonade stands to participating in Strutt With Your Mutt on a the team Abby and Emma's Run with the Waifs, these two young philanthropists have raised nearly $20,000 for homeless, abused and neglected animals in our community. They are the bright lights in this world and have illustrated a deep commitment to making our world a better place, for both humans and animals.
